FCSA mission statement

The mission of FCSA is to offer programs to players of all levels of play and provide them the best opportunity to play at the highest level they want to achieve.

 

Academy Program Mission statement

To provide quality programs that provides age-appropriate technical and tactical training in a positive learning environment.

 

What are the age groups for academy?

Academy starts at U6 (players are 5 years old) and ends after U12.

U6 players – developmental academy

U7 players – developmental academy

U8 players – developmental academy

U9 players – developmental academy OR travel academy

U10 players - developmental academy OR travel academy

U11 players - travel academy

U12 players - travel academy

U13 – U19 players try out for First Coast KYX teams

 

What is the difference between travel academy and developmental academy?

Academy is split into 2 groups – travel academy (U9-U12) and developmental academy (U6-U10).

Developmental academy – focus is on age-appropriate technical and tactical development. Players in developmental academy should be focused and motivated to improve their skills. Players are placed are placed in training groups for training and game day teams for games. Two seasons – fall and spring – play one season or both.

Travel academy – focus is on player development in a team format.  Players must try out for travel teams in May/June. FCSA has 3-4 tiered teams in the travel academy program. Players who try out for travel academy should be highly motivated to improve their skills and play in the program. Teams play a schedule of games appropriate for the level of the team. Teams play about 10 games per season (2 seasons per year) with a minimum of ½ of the games at home. Travel teams play in 1-2 tournaments per season. One year commitment to the program.

 

Can we do recreational and developmental academy?

YES and NO. Academy players play on academy teams and recreational player play on recreational teams. There may be opportunity for some age groups to attend academy training and stay on their recreational team if there are spaces available in a particular age group.

 

How many days a week is academy?

Developmental academy – 2 days a week, Tuesdays and Fridays, 6-7:30 at Patton Park -  10 week program.

Travel academy – 2 days a week, days determined by coach. Teams have 2 seasons of play – fall and spring.

 

When does the program start?

Academy starts in mid-August for fall season and mid-February for spring season.

Is there a separate uniform for academy?

YES. The developmental academy uniform is $25 – it is re-used each year.

Travel academy uniforms are ~$50/year.
